Creating a Market Ready Résumé:

 A Résumé Writing and Evaluation Workshop & Presentation

Create a résumé that is effective in content. Make improvements to the one you already have. Transform your résumé into a powerful tool that will get the attention of the hiring manager. Write an employment objective that shows an employer that you have direction. These are all helpful pointers that can lead and have led to success in employment or career advancement. This résumé workshop will focus on these areas and more.

 

You will learn the following:

  • The employer’s eye: helpful tips on looking through the eyes of the employer’s perspective in assessing the résumé’s content

  • Make the most out of your work experience: review the best résumé style format that showcases your strengths, capabilities, and talents

  • What to toss/what to keep: far too often résumé’s will turn into a dissertation. Learn critical pointer’s that is useful in developing a top-notch résumé to showcase your expertise

  • Express your writing capabilities-receive instructions on writing a well-rounded résumé and effective cover letter that demonstrates interest, purpose, and goals

Sandie Bell, Career Advisor MCI College of Health Science of ECPI University Newport News VA

Sandie Bell is a Career Advisor with ECPI University, and serving in an interim role as Director of Career Services for MCI College of Health Science of ECPI University. She has 16 years in higher education, and holds a M. Ed. In Education Administration and a B.S. in Business. In her role as Career Advisor, Sandie takes great joy in motivating, cultivating, and helping students realize their potential. As a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she loves giving back, and working towards causes and initiatives that helps in development for the betterment of the community and the organization. During her spare time, Sandi enjoys spending time TV watching.

 

C. Renée Turner, Career Advisor ECPI University Newport News VA

C. Renée Turner is a Career Advisor with ECPI University. Her experience as a Career and Professional Development Specialist spans over 15 years in areas of human resources, workforce development, and education, training, and event management services. Recognizing the importance of giving back and developing a network of professional contacts, Renée believes strongly in volunteerism and giving of one’s time and talent when possible.
